This design illustrates the people of God becoming the Body of    Christ in the world.  It intentionally looks like a Celtic cross.  It is designed to resemble the denominational seal.  It is unique, however, in the fact that the cross is composed of four people forming a circle. This illustrates the church as being the Body of Christ, and that Cumberland Presbyterians are a connectional community.  Although the people appear to be closing inward to the circle, the cross as a whole projects outward.

The people of God form a great circle.  This is a circle of God’s love and grace; like a wedding band, the kind that has no end. One that can never be broken.  The circle also represents the world into which the church brings God’s love and grace. Looking deeper, the negative space inside the circle possesses another cross made of cups.  This represents our bringing the Cup of Salvation to the four corners of the earth.

Ultimately the design resembles a cross.  But it does just that, resembles a cross.  We are always being transformed into the likeness of Christ, our Lord.

We are planning to make an effort to be more intentional in our sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ.  One of our goals for the future is to have an increase in the number of professions of  faith and baptisms.  This was discussed and adopted as a goal during our elders’ annual retreat sometime back.  We must start first in reaching this goal with prayer.  I encourage you now to pray for those who do not know Christ.  Pray also that we might be able to reach them with the Good News of the Gospel.
We are going to establish classes that instruct us how to talk to people about becoming a Christian.  The purpose of the class will be to help us know how to lead people to faith in Christ.  In recent weeks, individuals have requested a class of this nature because they are working with people in trying to get them to accept Christ.  This was wonderful to hear.
We are also going to offer on a regular basis a class in basic Christianity.  This class will cover the very basic beliefs of the Christian faith, Jesus Christ, God, the Bible, Salvation, Baptism, etc.  This will be an excellent class for new Christians but will also be a good refresher course for those who have been Christians for years.
We are also working on a program to help assimilate new members into our church.  We have been so blessed with many new members and we want each to feel a part of the church.  We want to use each one’s talents and gifts and allow them to enrich their Christian experience through service.
All of the above are in the planning stages and are being developed.  We will be announcing when they start.  Be much in prayer for us as we plan these important programs.
Last evening in our session meeting we reviewed our plans, goals and wish lists for the year 2008 that was established during our elders retreat.  We rejoiced together to realize that we have already accomplished some
of our goals and plans and that many others are being addressed.  There are still many things we need to
do that we will attempt to accomplish in the future that are just not able to be accomplished at this time.  We continue to be blessed as a church. Jonathan
